If you are not excited about your products, what makes you think your customers will be? That sentence just about sums up this article. There are too many salespeople that have lost their mojo, their spark, their excitement, and it is hurting them, big- time! Top sellers have a spring in their step and are genuinely excited about their products and services. They are eager to talk about them with enthusiasm.
Having energy and enthusiasm about your products when talking with clients gives you a big advantage too. It sets you apart. Your meeting is a memorable one with the client. You were able to change the energy in the room to that of interest and excitement with your client. You proved to your customers that you enjoy what you do and that you are excited about your products and your company. You were able to gain all of these checkmarks just by being energetic and enthusiastic! And at the end of the day, that customer experience was a lot more fun than being dry and boring like a lot of salespeople! A big part of selling is selling yourself. Being enthusiastic will only help with your efforts.
It doesn’t matter what product you sell, or how “dry” or boring you or others may think it is (I sold accounting software so I can say this). It is up to you, the professional salesperson to make it exciting. If you make it exciting, your customers will be excited. This leads them to being more interested in doing business with you… someone who is on fire and with a great company that is going places.
You can show your energy and enthusiasm by speaking with excitement. By literally saying, “I am truly excited about meeting with you this afternoon!” Literally, saying it! Just make sure, that you mean it when you say it. Fluctuate your voice tone. When you are discussing a feature of your product that you know your customer will love, say it! “Kathy, wait until you see this part- this is for you. This, you are going to love!”
If you are genuine and truly passionate about your products, coupled with knowing specifically how they will benefit your customer, why the heck wouldn’t you be very excited to meet with them and to show them what you got? You are not being fake or “cheesy.” You know what they need, have a great fit, and you are showing your enthusiasm and excitement about it.
Let your competition be boring and monotone about their products. You will win!
