Wherever you go, whether you are by yourself or talking with someone, smile big. Show those whites! Show the world some happiness, some positive energy, some life, show them a big smile. Smiling has not only been proven to actually make you feel happy, but it also rubs off and impresses happiness on to others that may catch that big smile on your face! Like attracts like. And why wouldn’t the whole world be smiling all day all the time? We should be so grateful for everything that we do have, for being able to get up and do the things that we can do, for the house we have, the family and friends, and for the many other things that are working in our favor.
Smiling is also a key ingredient to getting what you want. Smiling naturally moves the odds in your favor to getting something that you desire. Take for example the customer service experience that I had earlier this week. I was bringing my car in for some service. As I greeted the service representative, I was all smiles, wished her a “happy morning” and I showed excitement to just be there and to be getting my car fixed. The service rep then made the following comment out loud, “I like it, kicking off the day with the nicest customer!” Wow! It made me smile even more. After she had spoken these words, another service rep commented, “Ya, Patrick is about as nice of a customer as you can have.” Wow, now I was blushing!
Did I want this kind of wonderful service experience and treatment by the car dealership? YES! Wouldn’t you want the same? Yes! Smiling moves the odds in your favor. People like people who are smiling and expressing happiness. By the way, it turned out that the dealership ran into a mechanical issue while servicing my car and they decided to just waive the two hours of labor! No charge. I didn’t even have to ask. They just did it and then proceeded to wash my car before returning it to me.
Now lets reverse the scenario. I wonder how the above interaction would have played out if I walked into the dealership with a stone face. No sign of smiling, no sign of happiness. Just a long, serious, or stern-looking facial expression. I wonder if I would have gotten the same treatment and the same compliments. What do you think? I don’t think I would have. I attracted this positive experience and outcome by smiling. By smiling I was sending off positive vibrations to others and they reciprocated back in the same way. This my friends in the law of vibration (plenty of info on this law on the web!).
As a salesperson and as a sales leader, I always smiled when I met with customers, online or in-person. I didn’t just smile upon greeting myself. I smiled many times all throughout the meeting. I showed customers that I wanted to be there, that I was happy to be there with them. I smiled as I discussed our solutions and how they would help solve their problems. I smiled at the end of the meeting after we knew we had a productive one and had accomplished so much during our time together. I also smiled when I said, “I really appreciate the time today and the opportunity to work with you folks.” I smiled. And so did they. And so did they also buy from me.
So smile big wherever you go. It expresses happiness, gratefulness, positive vibes, and it will only attract the same in return. Now who wouldn’t want this every single day in their lives?
