How we think is how we feel, and how we feel is how we think. So many people wake up in the morning and as soon as they open their eyes, they begin to think about their worries, their problems, their issues, and other troublesome thoughts. Everything that could go wrong and what if this happens or what if that happens. These negative thoughts send signals to your body. These thoughts literally make your body feel what the mind is thinking. So if I wake up this morning and think that I am completely exhausted and that I have nothing to look forward to, the body will follow by feeling tired and sluggish, and with no sense of urgency or direction.
The body feels this and in turn, sends signals back to the mind reinforcing the thoughts that you are indeed tired and have nothing to look forward to. The pattern continues. It might be all day that you feel like this, maybe the entire week, or even month, or year. The body always will follow the instructions of the mind. The end result: thoughts and feelings of tiredness and no direction. If you wake up again tomorrow and think these same thoughts again, the pattern continues. You will then end up yet again, with the same results that you had from the previous day.
You are stuck in a pattern. Like a stick in the mud with the same thought/feeling cycle that produces the same results. Eventually your whole week, month, maybe even year, will give you just more of the same. You programmed your mind and your body with this habitual thinking day in and day out.
You have to break this pattern if you want to change your results. Instead of repeating the same thoughts, change them. Change them to what you want to think, and to how you want to feel. It is that simple yet most people don’t do it or are not even aware of the fact that their same, repetitive thoughts are causing their same lousy feelings, producing the results in their life that they don’t want.
So how can you break the pattern? Before going to bed tonight, when you are in a sleepy, relaxed state (just before falling asleep), tell yourself that when you wake in the morning, that you will think about all the wonderful things that you are incredibly grateful for. All the things that are working for you. Your family, your friends, your relationships, your wonderful body, your freedoms, your ability to do anything you want in this world. Your ability to express kindness and to make someone’s day. Promise that you will love yourself and that you won’t be so hard on yourself. That you will love with all of your heart. That you will live your life to its very fullest.
When you say these words, truly believe in what you are saying. Say them with emotion and see yourself smiling, being loved, being kind. See yourself thinking that you can conquer anything. See yourself making someone smile. See yourself being so grateful for such small things in life such as having a hot cup of coffee. Visualize yourself doing the things that you are saying. By doing all of this, you are making affirmations. Powerful thought statements that will produce the feelings and the results that you want with repeated practice.
By doing this instead of waking up in the usual manner with thoughts of worry, stress, anxiety, fear, loneliness, insecurity, guilt, doubt, and the list goes on, all coupled with your body feeling these thoughts and emotions, you will wake up and have a more positive and different experience. You will wake up and smile. You will begin to start thinking positive thoughts. That you can do the things that you want to do. That you are strong. That you are blessed with so many wonderful things in your life that are going your way.
Your body will follow these positive thoughts as your mind has sent your body these signals. The body must follow suit. The body will reflect your thoughts and instead of feeling tired, sluggish, and with no place to go, the body will feel alive. You will want to jump out of bed and get the day started. Why? Because you affirmed- you gave your mind a set of instructions on how you would think and feel when you woke up in the morning. These instructions, which you truly believed in, and with which you visualized, resonated with your subconscious mind. This is the mind responsible for all of your programming and day to day tasks that you go about and don’t even have to think about.
You have essentially begun to change your programming and for the better. So what happens next? Continue this practice every single night before retiring. You have to practice the above every night and every morning when you wake. You are trying to break a program that you have been acting on for years. Maybe the last decade, or perhaps the majority of your life. It takes time to change thought/feeling patterns that have been engrained in your programming. But if you continue working at it daily, you will soon begin to see the changes.
Remember, in order to make this work, you have to want to change. You have to want to lose the old pattern- the old thoughts and feelings that have been keeping your mind and your body in the same place, producing the same results. Enjoy the many wonderful things a simple change in thought can do for you!
